Afurada is an old fishing village that preserves a charm rarely found so close to a major city, with direct views to the mouth of the Douro and the Atlantic Ocean.
Afurada keeps Vila Nova de Gaia's fishing tradition alive, with narrow streets, colourful facades and an authentic community that crosses the river to Foz do Douro via the traditional rowing boat. It is one of the few areas in Greater Porto where this traditional way of life persists next to a metropolitan capital.

The area has good access to the Arrábida Bridge and the A1, and is just minutes from Arrábida Shopping and the Douro Estuary Nature Reserve, a protected area of high ecological value.
